This classic Cuban Picadillo makes an easy and flavorful family dinner, elevated by the flavor of Pearls Specialties Real Pimiento Olives stuffed with a slice of real red pepper.
Ingredients
½ cup Pearls Specialties Real Pimiento Olives, sliced
6 whole Pearls Specialties Real Pimiento Olives
1 tablespoon oil
1 medium-sized onion, chopped
1 bell pepper (green or red), chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 pound ground beef
2 teaspoons cumin
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 (8 oz) tomato sauce
½ cup beef broth (or water)
½ cup raisins (or chopped dates)
Rice, for serving
Cooking Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the oil. Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic, and sauté for about 4 minutes, stirring often, until softened and fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Stir in the cumin, oregano, paprika, salt, pepper, tomato sauce, and broth. Cover, bring to a gentle simmer, and cook for 5–10 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in the olives and raisins until evenly incorporated. Serve warm over rice.
